This year has been fantastic for the UX Movement Newsletter. I hope you've learned a lot from all the articles I've published. There have been a few notable articles that have made an imprint on the memory. Today, I'd like to share them with you.
1. How to Simplify a Massive Form With Over 100 Fields
This is the most popular article of 2024. I never thought a form with over 100 fields existed until I found this personal loan application form. I was astounded by how overwhelming it was and decided to simplify it using several tried and trusted UX techniques.
2. How to Make Users Fill Out the Longest 13 Field Form
This is the second most popular article of 2024. Every form I've seen has always looked and felt stale, monotonous, and clinical. Therefore, I got the idea to humanize the process by making users feel like someone is guiding them and asking them questions.
3. A Better Approach to Multi-Level Sidebar Navigation
This is the third most popular article of 2024. Multi-level sidebars have always been a headache to navigate. Each hierarchy level is nested under each other, so it's hard to tell them apart. A cleaner approach is to display the secondary and tertiary levels within the layout.
How to Design a Smart Search Bar Experience
This article deserves an honorable mention. Designers have always designed search and filter functions separately. However, integrating them into one can give users a smart search bar experience, where they can find the item they want within the menu before the page results.
Next year, I plan on publishing even better articles that go beyond the scope of these current topics. However, I need your help and feedback to do this. What relevant UX design topics would you like to learn about in 2025?
